The ren'youkei + たがる (tagaru) means "to want", and expresses the desire of the "third person": He, she, it, or they. The auxiliary verb たがる (tagaru) is a yodan katsuyou (or group 4) verb and is conjugated accordingly.

Unlike with extensions like ren'youkei + て (te) and ren'youkei + た (ta), there are no contractions with たがる (tagaru). The ~たがる (-tagaru) form cannot be used with verbal adjectives.

Ren'youkei + たがる (tagaru) and the negative form
The ren'youkei + たがる (tagaru) can only be made polite by adding ない (nai) to the mizenkei conjugation of たがる (tagaru). You cannot add たがる to the ren'youkei conjugation of ない (nai) because ない is a verbal adjective.
